The Ottoman Empire and the World Around Around it

The Ottoman Empire and the World Around It by Suraiya Faroqhi looks at the Ottoman state not in isolation but through its ties with its neighbours — Europe, Iran, the Mughals and the wider Islamic world — through war, diplomacy, trade, pilgrimage and travel, from the empire’s rise to its later centuries. It is useful reading for the CSS optional papers on Islamic History & Culture and European History, and for anyone studying the history of the Muslim world.
