Besides the CSS exam, the Federal Public Service Commission (FPSC) recruits for federal government posts through recruitment tests and interviews. The test is usually an MCQ paper of general ability — English, general knowledge, current affairs, Pakistan affairs, Islamic studies and basic mathematics — and, for many posts, a part on the subject of the post.
Eligibility rules, age limits, fees and dates change from year to year, so always check the latest official notice from the FPSC before you apply.
How to prepare for an FPSC test
- Read the advertisement and the test pattern for your post on the FPSC website.
- Solve FPSC past papers, especially for similar posts.
- Revise general knowledge, current affairs, Pakistan affairs and Islamic studies MCQs.
- Practise English grammar and vocabulary MCQs and basic mathematics for speed.
- Prepare the subject portion from the textbooks of your degree.
